About

This is a website about Marsaskala. In particular about the Zonqor Estate area, but also about Malta in general. I would like to raise the interest in the locality and show what is going on here.

  1. Hi,

I hope this e-mail finds you well.

I don’t know if you are able to help me with my query but I just wanted to give it a chance.

Me and my boyfriend are moving to Zonqor end of this month, it looks like a lovely place to live in. May I ask if there are any grocery stores at Zonqor Area please? As while we drove through Zonqor, we didn’t come across any.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    1. Hi M’Louise,

thanks a lot for the comment/email,

yes on top of the hill there is a shop – Hilltop Supermarket – but it is open at a bit weird hours, and not always has what u need – but a few times it helped us – I had to instantly get some flour as my gf was cooking etc. To buy fruits/veggies – best to go down to the square near the Church, ah and from time to time there is guy passing with bread and another guy with veggies wagon as well… I think one day we will meet as we walk our dog often 🙂

  2. I happened to visit yesterday the hilltop Zonqor Estate with wonderful views right across M’Skala and beyond reaching as far as the Hurd Bank!
I wonder whether you can enlighten me as to the location of Zonqor Battery, somewhere close to the street named after it and if by any chance there is any access to it even to have a snapshot from the outside perimeter.

I think that this should likewise serve as a historical landmark for the Zonqor agglomeration and its inhabitants, just like the beautifully kept Water Tower right in the heart of the locality.

Keep it up and look after our Maltese heritage!

    1. The Zonqor Battery is not open to the public and is a private property. To access it you need to pass from their farmlands and again the property per se is private. It is currently used as a farmhouse. It is dilapidated and requires restoration. Most of its original features were dismantled. It was built during the knights, used during WWII and then became a farmhouse for storage. I do not suggest going there without permision of owners. There are many British pillboxes and the knights Triq il-Wiesgha Tower
